Today in World History!

Today in World History we learned about World War I and about them darn trenches they had. Those things were not sanitary at all!! Rats the size of cats would be located there. The were the black rats and the brown rats, but the ones to fear were the brown ones. The brown rats would eat the decomposing flesh of dead soldiers. The trenches also gave Trench Foot to soldiers. This was the rotting of the skin caused by all the water that was there. Some soldiers had to get amputated. They had a hard life in those days. The soldiers would wake up at dawn to protect for any attacks then have an "Hour Hate". Breakfast would come next with chores of course, some including cleaning the trench and pumping out the water. After that they all would take turn watching over certain parts of the area. Catching sleep whenever they could. Oh and the smell there was a mix of a pit of dead bodies, sweaty soldiers (sometimes they didn't take showers for weeks or months), mud, amo, and food. It all made a great pleasant smell!!
YUMM!
